Don’t you just love the expression on her face!
She was so excited to receive the Faith Builders Bible by Zonderkidz recently. The Faith Builders Bible uses the popularity of brick building pieces to encourage kids to read the Word of God. In our home, the Bible was quickly coined the “Lego Bible” and it didn’t take long for her to open and begin reading and exploring it.
Step 1: Open the box!
Clearly you can see by the expression on her face what her first reaction was to the Bible, no further explanation needed! My first reaction was that the cover is bright and beautiful, showing four brick story scenes from the Bible. The Bible is a nice size, neither too big or too small with a sturdy binding.
Step 2: Read your Bible!
We have another NIrV (new international readers version) Bible in our home that she reads, however when the Faith Builders Bible arrived she ditched her other one and has faithfully been reading a chapter a day in this one!
The Faith Builders Bible has 24 full color pages showing a Bible scene made from bricks (or Legos) as well as a short devotional and memory verse for that story. That’s a total of 48 short devotionals! It’s like having a mini devotional book in your Bible. I thought the font size was a little small, yet she didn’t seem to have any trouble reading it.
Step 3: Build!
She chose to build a scene from Noah’s Ark. Here you see her Lego Friends beginning construction on the Ark. I was so impressed with her creativity! I love how she started with the arched door that all the animals would walk through. She also gave the women (aka: wives) different jobs around the construction site.
The Faith Builders Bible is not affiliated with Lego, nor is there any mention of having to use Lego’s to build your scenes, however because of the brick pattern and scenes on the cover it can easily be confused as a Lego product. Therefore you would expect, building instructions for each scene of course! I was a little disappointed that there were no instructions or suggestions included on the full-color pages on how to build each story scene.
What I Thought?
Overall, I liked the Faith Builders Bible and my daughter loved it. There really isn’t anything like this on the market and the devotional style full-color story scenes make it unique. It’s a full NIrV bible and devotional in one!
As I mentioned I wish they would have included a section with brick building instructions as I could tell my daughter was looking for a little guidance as to how to build each scene, however that is my only complaint!
I’m always looking for unique gift ideas and the Faith Builders Bible would be a wonderful gift for a Lego loving boy or girl. Include a small brick building set and you have a fun and unique gift for that next birthday party!
