I believe preschool is the perfect age to explore in-depth alongside your little preschoolers something God created. I love diving into themes that I know my daughter would enjoy and spending 2-3 months exploring them.
For our next big theme I am grouping together Food, Fitness and The Human Body. I have enough activities, books, crafts and field trips planned until about mid April and since I love to share with others what I have worked on, I have compiled all my plans and ideas in one blog post.
The majority of our activities, crafts and learning materials come from our February Food & Fitness Mother Goose Time Preschool Kit.
What I love about MGT is that each monthly kit is theme based!!! I cannot say enough good things about MGT, I love love love the attention to detail in everything that is included in their monthly preschool kit, and let me tell you it’s a lot. I plan to do a full review and giveaway next month on MGT but in the meantime here are a few things that we will be exploring with this kit.
Mother Goose Time can stand alone since it covers so many subjects/topics and is structured as a daily curriculum, however I enjoy supplementing the topic with printables, a letter of the week, sensory bins, crafts found on Pinterest and our bible/character curriculum.
Since most dairy, fruits, vegetables and grains we eat come from a farm, I decided including a simple Farm unit would be appropriate.
These printables can be found at 2 Teaching Mommies
I also came across these great fruit and veggie picture cards from Homeschool Creations. You can use them for picture/name matching, to play memory since two sets are included. You can have your preschooler sort them by type or color. I printed only the pictures on cardstock and plan to use them for sorting and also for a special trip to the grocery store. I thought it would be fun to give her a few cards and have her find that fruit or vegetable at the grocery store.
In The Kitchen
My goal here is to get S in the kitchen as much as possible. She loves to “help” and to be honest I don’t let her as often as I should. I set up a pinterest page with lot’s of great ideas for me and you on how to get our kids in the kitchen!
When S is not in the kitchen another goal of mine is to get her outside as much as possible. Living in Florida spring will be here shortly and our plans are to create her very own flower garden which will definitely get her in her garden more. I will blog about that later. I’m not very good or interested in fitness. It’s a struggle even for me so I am excited about many of the outdoor ideas/activities that Mother Goose Time included.
My Human Body
I have wanted to explore the body with S for several months now. When I saw the February MGT kit I thought Food & Fitness would be great complimentary topics. I have gone all out with planning this topic and am so excited to start. There is SO much to explore when it comes to our human body and thankfully there are plenty of great books, resources, science experiments and beyond cute crafts to do. Here are a few of my favorite finds!
Check out some great ideas on my Human Body Pinterest board.
I have always really enjoyed The Magic School Bus. I purchased both the Inside the Human Body book and DVD from Amazon.
Besides the Magic School Bus my only other purchase was this Scholastic My Body book. S has peaked in it a few times and absolutely loves it. The graphics, descriptions and pictures are perfect for preschoolers.

Last but not least, books are a huge part of our preschool. I may buy a couple of books on Amazon if I know I will use them in the future, however the majority of our books come from the library.
