My daughter loves all things fancy, gardening, and tea parties. Since spring had finally arrived (we live in Florida) a Fancy Nancy Garden Tea Party was perfect for her fourth birthday. I purposely kept the group very small to keep it affordable and intimate. I believe birthday parties should have four main components; decor, food, activities and presents!!
I hope that you are able to come away with some inspiration for your own Fancy Garden Tea Party.
I LOVE real flowers and I always incorporate them into any party. I found these super cute ceramic pitchers half off at Micheals along with the knit doilies in the dollar section!
I believe the food/cake table is the decorative focal point of any party. The cake or cupcake dessert for our party should be in the center. I incorporated more flowers. Since the table was rather large I was able to place all the food, drinks and gifts/party favors all together. Everything except for the flowers and food I made was something I had or borrowed. The burlap table runner is a great touch to help tie in the garden/outdoor feel.
A tea party should always have real china. Little girls love sipping their pink lemonade from a real teacup. Since the children’s table was very small I purchased an inexpensive fabric from the fabric store and it really made a difference instead of an oversized plastic tablecloth.
The adult table was covered with extra burlap left over from the table runner. I used a matching centerpiece to tie the decor together between the two tables.
Since Fancy Nancy is one of my daughters favorite books now I wanted to incorporate a time to read the girls Fancy Nancy Tea Party for two. I purchased the fabric for the blanket and my mother and law graciously sewed the blanket together. The paper lanterns are from Hobby Lobby.
The menu consisted of the birthday girls favorite foods. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, organic cherry yogurt, a fruit cocktail of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries and of course cupcakes!! I kept the menu the same for the adults with the exception of chicken salad sandwiches instead of PB& J’s.
I cannot remember exactly where I saw this idea originally. Most likely Pinterest 😉 Yet, I loved the idea of planting a flower not only as a fun activity to do during the party but also a cute party favor to take home. The pots and shovels were from the dollar section at Target. What a deal!!!
I purchased cute flower stickers from Micheals and the girls decorated their pots. They loved this!!
After decorating their pots they planted their own flower.
Ok, this activity totally caught me by surprise. I had included some bubbles in the Fancy Nancy party favor box and who knew that blowing bubbles would entertain all the guests for over 15 minutes!! They had a great time..
Fancy Nancy party favor boxes were purchased from Birthday Express. Inside they had a Fancy Nancy tattoo, Fancy Nancy notebook, pencil, candy necklace and bubbles.
It’s always important to leave time for opening presents.
What’s a garden tea party with a garden. Mommy and Daddies present this year was her own flower garden. The hubby did a great job getting everything set up before the party, although my pretty butterfly flowers (back row) died during a frost we had a couple days before the party 🙁
